To create a call link on a Web page

In the HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) source code for the Web page, type the following syntax:
callto:servername/e-mail address

For example, to place a call link on your Web page, type text similar to the following:

Call me using NetMeeting at

'< href="callto:ils.microsoft.com/someone@microsoft.com">
ils.microsoft.com/someone@microsoft.com</A >

To end a call

  • Click the End Call button.

When someone calls you, the Incoming Calls dialog box appears. Click Accept or


Ignore.
Notes

If this is a secure call, a Details button also appears. Click it to see the type of security and certificate being used.
To stay logged on to the directory server, but be unavailable for calls, on the Call menu, click Do Not Disturb.
You also can set NetMeeting to accept calls automatically.

To use a gatekeeper to place calls

On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the General tab, click Advanced Calling.
In the Advanced Calling Options dialog box, click Use a gatekeeper to place calls.
In Gatekeeper, type the computer name or IP address of the gatekeeper computer. If you are calling a conferencing server, type the name of the MCU instead.

Notes

If you log on to your organization's gatekeeper using your e-mail address, click Log on using my account name. Otherwise, click Log on using my phone number and type your phone number in the box.
If you don't know the computer name or IP address of the gatekeeper, contact your network administrator.
If you place calls using a gatekeeper, directory servers do not appear in the Directory list.

To use a directory server to place calls

On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the General tab, under Directory Settings, in Directory, type or click the name of the directory server you want to use.

Notes

If you are not logged on to the directory server, you can still be reached if people have your IP address.
If you want to log on automatically, select the Log on to the directory server when NetMeeting starts check box.
If you do not want your name and e-mail address to appear in the directory list when you are logged on to the directory, select the Do not list my name in the directory check box.

To place calls to an automated telephone system

On the View menu, click Dial Pad.
Enter the main telephone number by clicking dial pad buttons or using your computer keyboard, and then click the Place Call button.
After the call is answered by the automated telephone system, use the dial pad to enter the extension number or menu option.

Notes

You must use a gateway or gatekeeper to call a telephone.
If the Place A Call dialog box opens, in Using, select Phone number.
Extension or menu items are sent to the automated telephone system as you type them. Do not click the Place Call button again after entering the numbers on the dial pad.
You cannot enter letters using the dial pad.

Click Start, and then click Run.
In Open, type one of the following:
callto:computer name or IP address
callto:servername/e-mail address

For example:
callto:ils.microsoft.com/someone@microsoft.com

callto:e-mail address
To use the e-mail address only, you and the person you are calling must be logged on to the same server.

callto:phonenumber+type=phone+gateway=gatewayname

To place calls to a telephone

On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the General tab, click Advanced Calling.
In the Advanced Calling Options dialog box, under Gateway settings, select the Use a gateway to call telephones and videoconferencing systems check box.
In Gateway, type the computer name.

Note

Certain gatekeeper computers can also allow you to use NetMeeting to call a telephone. For more information, contact your system administrator.
